These sandblasted dishes are created using a labor intensive process called photo transfer. After initially making a "blank", the basic glass piece, before it is shaped or given an image, I draw the image I want to use. Then, using a UV light and a film product called Rayzist, I develop my drawing onto the film. The film is washed heavily to reveal the image, then burnished onto the glass. I then sandblast the glass, whereby the developed part of the image protects against the sandblasting. The image left behind is then back filled with enamel, and re fired to set the enamel and shape the glass.
Food safe. Handwash to avoid marring of glass. Photo images can also be used to transfer onto the glass. Custom orders welcome.
